Symphony No 18 - 2nd Movement ? Prestissimo ? The Domino Challenge
Like the first movement this movement is a free flowing chain of ideas. The only common denominator is the never stopping flow of semiquavers throughout the movement. The subtitle ?The Domino? challenge reflects the very dangerous rhythmic unisons which abound in the movement. To orchestral musicians a domino is when a player crashes in in the wrong place. The potential for that to happen in this movement is paramount.
