This wonderful sonata by Heinrich Biber (1644-1704) deserves more performances. It is not part of the Sonatae Quam Aulis set, but rivals those twelve sonatas for its superbly idiomatic trumpet-writing and fiery violin music. Biber scores this sonata for solo trumpet, two violins and two violas, the five-part string texture being a trademark of his, and one of the aspects of his music I love the most.
Please contact me if you require a harpsichord continuo part.
