A particularly complex piece based on an extremely simple ground bass. A challenging piece for both student and professional alike. Which roughly translates to mean that neither me nor my grade 8 friend could play it at the time of writing!
The idea of this piece was the challenge of writing interesting enough parts over a short and repeated chord sequence that continues throughout the piece.
Pt. 1 is the hardest part to play, with many scalic patterns to learn. The player gets a rest towards the end when pt. 2 takes over. In some of the harder sections where it is only right hand playing, the player is invited to divide the melody between both hands.
Pt. 2 is very simple in comparison, with only one difficult section towards the end.
