This intermediate piece for piano (2 min. 30 sec.) is the eighth in a series of impromptus inspired by sounds of childhood, namely themes from early 90s video game consoles like Nintendo. This composition is indicative of many of the bluesy soundtracks that also contain splashes of unexpected and quirky sonorities, giving it a bona fide unearthly quality. Think of a western shoot-out aboard an alien spaceship.

Performers should keep the tempo rock-solid with no rubato. The syncopated ostinato bass pattern may take some getting used to at first, but it is essential to the entire arrangement. Many of the melodic figures have crescendos or decrescendos that are unconventional, e.g. a decrescendo under an ascending phrase. The middle section has a sixteenth note passage that should be fingered by alternating left and right hands as marked.
