For Trumpet, Horn, and Tenor Trombone, Illusions is a 6 minute work in which the main theme is not revealed until the end of the piece. Until then, the ensemble is subject to the use of creative rhythm and harmony shifts in which the core basics of brass playing and musician skills are utilized. Metric Modulation is a core feature of the piece and the main groove is featured in the Trumpet at the very beginning of the work.
Illusions could be used as a great teaching piece for students who would like a challenge in the field of playing in a Brass Trio. Illusions is a versatile piece for any point in a program so you can't go wrong :)
