I am currently learning the flute and loving it! I have decided to create a series of resources (duets, exercises, and pieces) for beginner flautists that will help both them (and me) in learning the instrument. They are designed to supplement existing books and can also be used to teach aspects of theory. The Exercises will introduce notes and present warm-up studies and pieces. The pieces included on each resource are aimed at the older learner as they introduce complex rhythms quickly and would therefore be also ideal for learners with musical experience.

I am always interested in how my pieces (particularly educational pieces) are being used. I have therefore decided to offer all my beginner flute music free, but would ask that you drop me an email to say how you are using it and feel free to include any comments or requests. My email is: guybunce@hotmail.com

5: F,G,A,Bb,B,C

This resource provides the finger chart for the note Bb (not using the Bb key!). Following this are four warm-up exercises and 6 pieces to learn. The 6th piece is 'Ode to Joy' by Beethoven.

Which method of viewing music should I use?

Score Exchange has two methods to display previews of music: seView which uses regular html and javascipt and the Scorch plug-in from Avid which needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Both have advantages and disadvantages:

seView, is the most compatible option. You should be able to view music on all modern web browsers including most mobile devices. Even if your device does not support javascript you should still be able to preview at least page one of the music.

You do not need to install any additional software to use seView.

Scorch is a free plug-in from Avid for displaying and printing music. It can also play the music that you're seeing. As modern web browsers are updated, Scorch is no longer compatible with many browsers. Scorch has never been compatible with mobile devices and some web browsers on Mac computers.

If your web browser does not install Scorch automatically, you can click here to download and install scorch manually.
