The Red Clydesider March was written when I was playing cornet with the Clydebank Burgh Band. Clydebank is a town just outside Glasgow whose main claim to fame is a history of shipbuilding. This march uses an adaptation of "The Red Flag" in the bass solo section, which harks back to the reputation of "Red Clydeside" with militant trade unions, many years ago - hence the title of the march.
