This piece tries to capture the mood of slowly strolling the countryside, with the strings providing a gentle walking rhythm and the flute a lyrical melody. The melody line could be played by any instrument but it seems particularly suited to flute. The pizzicato on the last note, gives an impression of arriving at your destination. - your walk is over!
