In 1867 a collection of piano music made its way into the Northern United States market. The collection was made to brighten up the spirits of the times, the country having just survived the Civil War and the assasination of the well-loved president, Abraham Lincoln. The collection was called the "Circle of Brilliants" and featured some gems in that volume..one of them was the "Bavaria March". Little is known about the original composer, but the obvious European influence is heard in the composition. The tempo can be varied, but is meant to performed with a light feel.
