The Sound of Rolling Dice
The concept for this was interesting to me at the time I wrote it. I started by setting up several pages of guidelines as to how I would use a pair of dice to decide on tones, rests, note lengths, ornamentation, etc. I came up with two different tone rows, one which used every tone once, and another which allowed for repetition. Then, following my strict guidelines, I assembled the piece in about 2 days. I can't say that I'm very attached to this piece, especially since I had absolutely no creative input into my own piece. If you want to see a more entertaining use of tone rows, see my score 'Russian Doll'.
