Chorale prelude on IN DULCI JUBILO, BWV 729

JOHANN SEBASTION BACH (1685-1750)

Bach composed many Organ Chorale Preludes, and based many of them on the old German hymns, which he loved and harmonized beautifully in a chromatic and contrapuntal way. In his Passions and Church Cantatas he introduced many of these old tunes for the choir to sing, but the Chorale Prelude usually for organ is open to a different interpretation and sometimes takes on an independent role as an offertory in a Christian Eucharist of other celebration.
