Even as the original context of this work was as a gift to a family, it's first performance morphed it from being this to being something performed in church with reflection upon sacred and spiritually trying concerns, but music can be what it needs to be. One of the more delightful aspects of working out this composition was simply going through it at the end and making changes, such as negotiating and reconsidering almost entirely the the transition before the recapitulation and being inspired to let hemiola make its presence felt at the end.
