Inspired by the Selena Gomez track "Good For You" and featured (in solo excerpt form) in the monthly podcast series "Ray County Voices," this instrumental composition is the first part of a three-part piece. As piano solo performances of "Sister Selena" at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, have demonstrated, it works well as prelude music for liturgical church services. It also is well-suited for relaxed secular programs, such as recitals.

Because of the key signature, "Sister Selena" is best suited for intermediate students/ensembles.

"Sister Selena's Bluesy Minuet in F Minor, Pt. I," arranged here for piano, violin and violincello by Phyllis Hopper, also is available as a piano solo piece.
