This is a multiple percussion solo inspired by the the classic "Die Zwitsermaschine" by Al Payson. I have always loved that piece, but always wanted more of it, as it is not very long. This solo uses most of the instruments used in the original, with a couple small additions. It is designed to be performed immediately following the original solo and is suitable for high school or college solo competitions, recitals, etc. The original piece, as is this one, was inspired by the painting by Paul Klee, of the same name, depicting a strange "Twittering Machine". As in the original Payson solo, this features some fun, challening and quirky grooves on a unique combination of percussion instruments.
