This was commissioned by bassist Barry Green and has been widely performed in US. Strongly rooted in Chassidic/Jewish styles, it is remeniscent of the 'old' life
of those who migrated from Russia and East Europe, and its re-creation in their new surroundings. The piece ends with a traditional setting of the 'Kaddish. This prayer, although commonly used as a memorial for the departed, is actually one of affirmation and resurrection!
