The final movement of Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 has a folk-dance character. It resembles a melody that Croations sang in the villages near Eszterhaza.

Haydn had written this work in 1795 for a performance in London during his second visit. The "Father of the Symphonies" had ended a long career in symphony writing with this final movement.
