This piece is a setting of Psalm 67 in the translation of the Book of Common Prayer. Liturgically, it may be sung as an anthem; but it may also be sung as the alternative canticle to the Nunc Dimittis (the Deus Misereatur) at Evensong.
’God be merciful unto, and bless us’ is a dramatic and powerful work with a colourful organ part. It was first performed by the St Teilo Singers in Southwark Cathedral in 2005.
