Definitely a spoof of the poem by the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) hauling it down from the frigid highly spiritual spheres to an earthly Mexican atmosphere. In the end, one never can do it right. Had Orpheus not turned around to Euridyke during his travel from the underworld back into reality, for the rest of his natural life he would have to hear her complaints: "During this long trip you didn't turn around to see me even once!"

I wish I had submitted this version to the Carl Orff Contest instead of a more tamed down one. At least people would have had some fun!

English translation of the poem: "She was no longer that woman with blue eyes who once had echoed through the poet's songs, no longer the wide couch's scent and island, and that man's property no longer. She was already loosened like long hair, poured out like fallen rain, shared like a limitless supply. She was already root. And when, abruptly, the god put out his hand to stop her, saying, with sorrow in his voice: He has turned around –, she could not understand, and softly answered: Who?"
