This love duet, at the end of Monteverdi's opera "L'Incoronazione di Poppea," celebrates success in power and in love (both, it must be said, somewhat unethically achieved).
N.B. The score and parts are identical to those in Peter Neville's "Pur ti Miro arr for String orchestra". The same work is listed twice on ScoreExchange (once as String 5tet and once as String orchestra) because it suits both ensembles.
That is, the minimum instrumental requirement for this arrangement is 2-cello String Quintet, with first violin taking Empress Poppea's part and first cello taking Emperor Nerone's part. Extra strings (as available) may be added to the other parts, and will improve the 'roundness' of the supporting accompaniment.
