This work was composed for my grandson, Zai. (I compose tunes for each of my grandchildren when they are born.) The full score is written for 5 instruments – solo violin/fiddle, guitar, banjo, double bass, and piano – however, it can be performed with different combinations of these instruments other than in quintet form. The notes in the higher register of the violin can be played an octave lower for less skilled violinists or fiddlers. The guitar chords can be strummed as named above the guitar notes. Piano and guitar parts are the same.
