This composition for 13 voice Recorder Orchestra (SnSSAATTBBBGGC) depicts the cosmic singularity that started the expansion of the universe. From some slow notes in a bass recorder, the score likewise expands to increasingly frantic syncopations, and an ever widening range, finally encompassing an ensemble of 13 players . Just when the music can not expand any further, the piece ends with, in effect, a long plagal cadence.

Apart from some fast flurries in the Alto parts, “Singularity (expanding)" should not offer any technical challenges. However, syncopated rhythms and time signatures such as 7/16 or 5/16 may be an exercise in reading.

As often happens in.my compositions, the sopranino and sopranos have quite fewer notes than the tenors and basses.
