This Musical Joke arose from a reading of the comic "letter scene", Act 2, Scene 5 of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and is the final movement of the Quintet. The opening two movements are still in draft form.
Performers should not let this piece move much faster than the metronome marking. Piano pedalling is purely advisory and must be moderated by the acoustic of any performing venue. The pianist should aim for a sound tending towards "dry" throughout the piece.
