Canon in G Major
The Canon in G Major employs the same compositional technique as Pachelbel’s Canon (a strict canon over a ground bass). Unlike the Pachelbel, there is a complete change of mood midway through, to a breezy pop style. The piece is for three violins and cello, but works well with standard quartet instrumentation, if the viola plays the Violin II part.
