This is a traditional Christmas carol for Saxophone Quartet. It's original German words were written as a poem in 1816 by Josef Mohr. The tune was written for it in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber. A lovely, calm piece that will test your band's ability to keep a slow tempo. Can also be found elsewhere on this site for String Quartet, Clarinet Quartet and Brass Quintet. Originally written for SATB but there is an Alto part available for any AATB ensembles.
