This, as a serenade should be, is a warmly lyrical piece, and benefits occasionally from 20th century (English, not Viennese) harmonic developments. Those looking for up-to-the minute ways (say) of making unpitched noises with a french horn mouthpiece; intricate development of short non-tonal motifs, serial or otherwise; or personal psychological revelations, may look away now. Otherwise, I recommend the MP3 version (by GPO).
