The Adagio for Strings in full orchestral garb.
Another "accidental-free zone" with more than a hint of Barber and Vaughan Williams in their ecstatic style.
First performance scheduled in Leicester May 3 2008.
Dedicated to the memory of John Hand.
After a dodgy start the first performance settled down and seemed to be very well received.
I've made a few revisions since.
Review from the Leicester Mercury:
From shimmering strings to full orchestra composer Peter Owen's 2007 work Adagio for Orchestra conveyed a grandeur and an air of expectancy.
It was a clean performance, which proved an inviting opener to the rest of the concert.
