In May of 1777 General George Washington of the Continental Army ordered construction of some busy work that his troops subsequently christened "Fort Nonsense". This big band composition commemorates that achievement. The job and the piece begin in earnest and with some urgency, but slow down as it becomes apparent to the men what Washington's real motives are. My "Fort Nonsense" was begun on December 26, 2004 and completed on January 15, 2005.
