This is a setting of a short poem by Lord Byron, and is dedicated to my father who, like my mother was a long-time principal of the Plymouth Gilbert & Sullivan Fellowship, as well as singing tenor in the Drake Quartet, and in the Plymouth Area Police Choir. It will suit a lyrical tenor who is able to do justice to the high B flat near the close. In a minor key, there is an element of consolation and completion as the music closes in the tonic major.
The picture is Lord Byron, not my father!
