This is a very special psalm to me. It's the first one I set to music back in 2001. I looked at the Gather psalms, and Respond and Acclaim, and though some were okay, all in all I just didn't like them that much. Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I decided to set one a week to contemporary music for the next three years. So I dedicated the project to our Blessed Mother and set my nose to the musical grindstone…
But really it's taken six years to bring it from conception to finally being able to publish them with Sibelius. I started working at St. William of York parish in Baltimore in September of 2001, just before 9/11. Every week I would set that week's psalm to music, record it into a boom box and write out the words with chords. Then I would give each choir member a copy of my handwritten chart and because there was no melody line to follow, a tape of the recording to practice with during the week before Mass.
Then, I'll never forget, it was March of 2004 that my Uncle Tom and Aunt Mary gave us part of an inheritance they had recieved and we used part of it to buy this computer and Sibelius. So since 2004 every week I've programmed one psalm a week into Sibelius.
And of course now I'm able to just make minor editing changes and post them!
