This is taken from Motetti a cinque libro primo published in 1508 by Petrucci. Although a motet it is instrumental in style. Each of the two sections is based on a cantus firmus which begins as a single note. One note is added at each repetition until a complete hexachord is formed. The process is repeated removing one note each time.
I have transposed the piece from C to G and made a few adjustments to the fourth voice to make it suitable for modern recorders. The transposition makes it difficult to indicate exactly what musica ficta have been added, but I could supply an untransposed version to anybody who is interested.
