Bach's Mass in B Minor was the result of decades of writing choral works. This movement from the mass is a delightful Aria titled "Et in Spiritum Sanctum" originally written for two oboi d'amore (low oboes), continuo and bass vocal solo. In this version the trombone takes most of the role as the bass solo while the trumpets emulate the oboes. The horn and tuba supply the continuo part. This piece is comparable to style of other Bach arias including, Sheep May Safely Graze, Sleeper's Awake and his choral Jesu, Joy of Man's desiring.
