This fugue for organ actually is a double fugue. It has two subjects, each with its own exposition, followed by a rambunctious development section that combines the themes. The brief but powerful coda also combines the two themes, but each is presented in canon with itself in addition to being played against the other theme. As a bonus, the development section includes a brief quote from the hymn "For all the saints" because the work was commissioned for someone whose birthday is Nov. 1. This composition is tonal (Eb major) but contemporary in its idiom, and is suitable for worship use or as a recital piece.
