"O Holy Lord" is excerpted from a long, meditative prayer found near the beginning of 'Selections From The Writings Of 'Abdu'l-Bah'. It speaks of God's forgiveness, in spite of the evidence of human sinfulness - "We come with no provision but our sins, with no good deeds to tell of, only hopes." I see it as a mature recognition of my nature, as I understand 'Abdu'l-Bah's phrase from Some Answered Questions "the good deeds of the faithful are the sins of the near ones." The musical structure ranges from solo to all combinations of voices, and the style varies with some hymns, chorales and even gospel style, as much as I understand it.
