The Christmas carol "What Child Is This?" is based on the traditional English folksong "Greensleeves". This arrangement for elementary orchestra requires a knowledge of third position in the first violin part and half and third positions in the cello. The second violin and viola may be played entirely in first position if needed. Each of the instruments gets a chance at the melody.
