Music composed for the coronation of Charles II, This suite of six movements is marvellously ahead of its time in places. The rich textures sound just as good on modern brass instruments. There is an alternative Horn in F part 3.
When we perfomed this, we played at the beginning of a concert from a balcony. If you have spare cathedral near you, that would be the place to do it. A nice local connection, Matthew Locke was a boy chorister at Exeter Cathedral, and his name remains carved in the choir stalls as graffitti.
