Originally written for clarinet with small orchestra as incidental music for the film `Shall we Dance` (1937) starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The music accompanies Fred and Ginger as they exercise their dogs on a ship deck somewhere in Mid-Atlantic.
Recorded by Richard Hosford (BBC Symphony) with Nash the Ensemble on Hyperion - CDA68094.
Usually, in my limited experience, scores for a piano and a B-flat clarinet duet are in written in different keys. This copy has the key of C for both instruments. Where can I find the piano music in the correct key? Just in case I find someone who would deign to play it with me?? Is the piano part in -flat or is the clarinet expected to transpose to D?
