Le Cygne (the swan)
This delightful piece was originally written by Camille Saint-Sans (for two pianos and cello) as the XIII’th movement of his work "Le Carnival des Animaux." It is the most famous movement from the suite and the only one that Saint-Sans allowed to be published during his lifetime. The accompaniment is supposed to echo the rippling water as the swan’s feet paddle daintily under the surface; the melody represents the swan gliding elegantly over the water. This version has been arranged for the flute and piano.
