Beethoven's Choral Fantasia Op.80 arr Piano Quartet
Beethoven conceived the Choral Fantasy as a finale for a concert at the Theater an der Wien on December 22, 1808, which featured the premiers of his Fifth and Sixth symphonies and his Piano Concerto No. 4.
This piece is not generally heard, probably because the choir only comes in 2 minutes from the end. Hardly worth it…
This however is Beethoven in showing off, crowd pleasing mode. In this arrangement I hope to bring this lovely sunny work to a wider audience in the arrangement for piano and string quartet.
