In my youth in Texas I was constantly surrounded by country and western music. Even though I was grounded in classical music some of the "country" did rub off. To incorporate some of this in a Tone Poem was a daunting task. You may recoqnize some of the fiddle techniques from BlueGrass called push and shove and of course the haunting tune "Black is the color of my true love's hair" in a unique setting. Also, a couple of other folk tunes from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
