The piece is arranged for choir, soloists and full orchestra. It is performed close to the end of the opera when Princess Analykah (with the "voice which can bring tears to the meanest of men") is to sing at the request of the greedy King Wazir of Ubar so that the desert city may once have an endless supply of water. With the help of her friends, the big sound created brings so much water that, after the water reacts to the dry desert sand, it causes the entire city (and King Wazir) to sink as if it had never existed (of course all good people were saved).
