'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring' for String Quartet
This arrangement of Bach's famous chorale prelude, unlike many such arrangements, uses his accompanying quaver figuration as often as practicable for a string quartet during the statements of each line of the hymn. Playing should be gently legato except where marked. The piece is of moderate difficulty and is intended for student quartets of at least grade 6 standard. It does require some occasional fairly simple double-stopping chords. It can be used for memorial occasions with other pieces in my series of 'In Memoriam' settings.
