"Solveg's Song" is from "Peer Gynt" which is a play by the author Henrik Ibsen with incidental music by Edward Grieg.Solveg is a girl who Peer Gynt has abandoned and this Lament is a portrait of her grief and hopes that one day that he will return.
The Cor Anglais parts are en lieu for both the 2nd Oboe and 1st Bassoon; they may also be included to play with and so augment the Double Reed ensemble.
This arrangement has been performed by the North Somerset Double Reed Ensemble.
