Well, last night I started writing another string quartet and I intended to write in a minor key. Well, as you can see it ended up being in F major. The rhythms may seem unnecessarily complicated in some points, but really the cross rhythms and what-not are necessary for the integrity of the flow of the piece.
I spent approximately 6 hours working on the piece. I don't know what it is with my writing lately, but it seems every new project comes out quicker than the last.
One other comment on this movement. Whether you believe it or not, I had Haydn in mind as a model while I was writing this (obviously, more for his attitude than his actual musical style).
