This simple little piece from Chopin has been arranged for string quartet. The expressive melody given to the first violin is supported by a pizzicato accompaniment which can be played by students of very modest ability. This is a good introduction for young players to quartet playing, pizzicato and simple score reading, as separate parts are not provided. It would also make a charming, final ’good night’ encore piece.
