Very much of the Classical era, restrained and abstract, and like all Carulli's educational music very harmonic. Each Variation is in DC al Fine form, but I give them written out fully to avoid confusion.
My teacher always encouraged me to analyze the harmony as I played and this goes back all the way to Carulli and Carcassi's teaching methods which were based on scales and harmony. (So to those who teach classical guitar and say it isn't about chords… errrr excuse me?)
It is easily achievable for that first concert for the beginner at about grade 1/2 level. Suggestions for the right hand fingers are in line with the way things were played, mostly p i m but with use of a in Variation 2 which would have been adventurous in its day!
Parts include a TAB version for the crossover acoustic player and a notation only version for the purist!
