Overture to The Royal Fireworks arr. for Clarinet Quartet
The Music for The Royal Fireworks was written as an accompaniment for a pyrotechnic display held in Green Park, London to celebrate the Treaty of Aix la Chapelle in 1749. Handel used great forces of wind instruments - heaps of oboes, bassoons, horns, trumpets and three sets of timpani. The clarinet quartet may not do Handel's great band justice but, who cares, its very fine music and great to play!
