It is a combination of the carol "The First Noel" with an original melody and text. This is based on a poem I wrote a number of years ago that emphasizes the contrasts of the savior's birth: it is cold but he warms our hearts while angels sing an old lullaby for the new baby boy. For last Christmas I added an optional flute part. I have performed this many times with various choirs. Diction is especially important, especially at the end where the men sing the last verse of the poem while the women sing the refrain of "The First Noel."
