This prelude was an intriguing project as the it seems to get faster and faster as the notation in the finger work gets shorter and shorter. Suitable for brass band as Mendelssohn clearly works for the fullest organ sound attainable, i.e., marked Volles Werk (meaning that the instrument's stops are to be freely deployed in pursuit of a full, rich sound. Many influences from J.S. Bach's technique can be heard throughout. A reasonable challenge for a decent band!
