This piece of music depicts the Confederate charge called Pickett's Charge during the battle of Gettysburg. It starts with a campfire scene, the cannonade, the long mile walk progressing to a run, the infantry engagement, the failure of the charge, the long retreat, and finally a triumphant hymn of hope for the future.
