The ballad Scarborough Fair dates back to at least the 17th century. The fair itself was chartered by King Henry III in 1253, and during its long history was a famous market and social event throughout Europe. As with Greensleeves and other enduring songs, it is impossible to trace the musical origin with precision. Over the centuries, and to this day, the music has remained popular. This arrangement is for two guitars, with the first guitar playing the melody and the second guitar playing arpeggios as accompaniment.
